Orbital are back!

November 22, 2008

One of the most exciting bits of news in the electronic dance music world for years is that rave legends Orbital are re-forming to headline at Big Chill 2009 – celebrating 20 years since the release of Chime.

This is how Chime looked and sounded at Orbital’s legendary Glastonbury 1994 show, which is frequently rated as one of the finest live performances by any act:

Phil Hartnoll said: “It’s not an exercise in nostalgia, the time just seems right. Everything just seemed to fall into place. The timing is also good: 20 years of being together.”

And brother Paul added: “We’ve never said never. It’s something I suspected would happen, which is why we kept hold of certain key bits of odd equipment. We know Guy and Pete and various people from the Big Chill, we’ve both played there in our solo capacities and both liked it. There have been slight rumblings about getting back together before but it didn’t feel good. This time it just felt right.”
